Are you interested in the world of Kintsugi? Join us for two online workshops this June!

My friend, a Kintsugi master in Japan, Masafumi Imai and I—a facilitator and coach in the Netherlands—would love to bring the world and philosophy behind this ancient Japanese art to you.

Recently, the word "Kintsugi" came up in conversations with non-Japanese people around me several times—once during a mental health first aider training and again with my coaching client.

Being Japanese doesn’t necessarily mean I deeply understand all Japanese traditions obviously and Kintsugi was one of them. I found it intriguing—and a little strange—that non-Japanese people were so drawn to Kintsugi, often describing meanings that felt much deeper than what is commonly known in Japan. It reminded me of how "Ikigai" gained popularity abroad in recent years, with interpretations that sometimes surpassed common awareness within Japan (or at least for me).

Nonetheless, I became curious. So, when Masafumi reached out about the possibility of sharing his art internationally, I immediately jumped at the opportunity to collaborate. I’d like to learn alongside you—experiencing the deeper meaning and philosophical roots of Kintsugi together.

During these online sessions, Masafumi will share his knowledge and stories from practising Kintsugi in Japan. I will facilitate the session and offer Japanese–English translation when needed.

You are welcome to join anywhere in the world! But please be aware that the priority will be given to those who are based in or near the Netherlands, as Masafumi plans to hold in-person workshops here in the autumn. Thanks for your understanding
