Diversity & Organisational Culture

I support organisations in creating cultures where people from different cultural backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences can learn from one another, collaborate effectively, and contribute their strengths while respecting their differences.
In organisations where people work across differences in nationality, culture, generation, professional background, and values, diversity can be a tremendous source of strength. At the same time, it can also give rise to misunderstandings, tensions, and barriers to collaboration.
Through more than 25 years of work in international organisations, primarily in field-based settings, I have lived and worked in different countries and regions alongside people from a wide range of cultural backgrounds. I have also studied and taught intercultural communication and Cultural Intelligence (CQ) at university level.
My interest in this field continues to evolve. Through ongoing learning and reflection, I continue to explore what it truly means for people from different backgrounds to work, learn, and thrive together. This is not something that develops simply through international exposure or contact with diversity. It requires conscious attention to cultural differences, an understanding of their impact, and a willingness to keep learning.
Diversity becomes a genuine strength when people feel respected, heard, and able to contribute fully. Drawing on perspectives from diversity and inclusion, intercultural collaboration, and psychological safety, I support organisations in creating environments where people can learn together, collaborate effectively, and bring their unique strengths to the table.

My Approach
Organisational culture is shaped not only by structures and systems, but also by the everyday interactions, conversations, and relationships that people build over time.
Through training programmes, workshops, organisational dialogue, and leadership development initiatives, I support people in learning, reflecting, and putting new insights into practice together.
Rather than focusing on one-off interventions, I aim to support sustainable change that becomes embedded within the culture of the organisation.
Let's Explore What You Need
Every organisation faces its own unique challenges and opportunities. Whether through training, workshops, organisational dialogue, leadership development, or a combination of approaches, I work with clients to design solutions that fit their specific context and goals.

Creating an Organisational Culture Where Diverse Voices Are Heard
Organisations bring together people with different levels of experience, areas of expertise, perspectives, values, and responsibilities. Yet diverse ideas and viewpoints are not always fully shared, heard, or reflected in decision-making and day-to-day collaboration.
Through organisational assessments, coaching, dialogue processes, and workshops, I support organisations in creating cultures where every voice is respected and where people can learn, collaborate, and thrive together.
Client Story 1
Building a Culture that Values Staff Voices
Strengthening Communication and Collaboration in a Japanese Environmental NGO
Objective
To make staff perspectives and experiences visible, identify challenges related to communication and collaboration, and support the development of an organisational culture where people feel safe to express their views and engage in open dialogue.
My Role
Organisational Assessment (Survey and Interviews), Coaching for Leadership Development and Communication Skills, Workshop Design and Facilitation, and Support for Action Planning
Outcome
Through surveys, interviews, and workshops, staff members were given opportunities to share their experiences, perspectives, and aspirations, creating a richer understanding of the organisation's culture and communication dynamics.
The process also enabled staff to explore differences in expectations and perceptions regarding communication and collaboration. Together, they identified practical steps towards creating a more open, supportive, and learning-oriented organisational culture.
This project is currently ongoing and is expected to be completed in June 2026.
