What is team coaching?

In an organisation, a team is a group of individuals who collaborate towards a common purpose. When a team's collaboration is not working effectively for some reason, it's important to delve into the reasons and address the root causes. This process can help the team members regain their ability to interact effectively with one another.

• Sessions with the client (team of 3-5 or a group of 6-15 persons) and me (coach)

• In-person sessions, but sessions can also be done through online tools (Zoom, etc.) depending on the number of participants

• 4 to 8 sessions depending on the the goal of the coaching, with one session being a half day (4 hours)

• During a free consultation session, the team leader or manager can share with me the type of challenges faced by the team. This is an opportunity for the client to consider whether team coaching is an effective intervention.

• Once a service contract is engaged, I will conduct interviews with each member of the team and select a set of coaching process and tools.

 

I target the following teams as my main team coaching clients.

• Part of a non-profit organisation, educational institution, or international organisation and members work towards the same purpose

• The team consists of members from diverse cultural backgrounds and nationalities, which may be among the reasons reasons why there are communication challenges among team members.

• Members are experiencing burnout and exhaustion due to long working hours, which is preventing the team from functioning at its full potential.

 

Team coaching is distinct from one-on-one personal coaching, although fundamental skills such empathy and active listening are shared. Team coaching requires additional skills of a coach specific to the dynamics of a team as a whole, apart from the individual personalities within it. For instance, it involves recognising the team's collective personality and characteristics, and coaching based on those attributes. I have undergone training programmes such as CRR Global's Organization & Relationship Systems Coaching - ORSC®), to refine my team coaching skills.
